Giant Pandas are among the best-recognized animals in the world. Yet, they are also one of the rarest species. Only four zoos (DC, San Diego, Memphis, Atlanta) in the United States are in possession of giant pandas as a result of the Giant Panda Cooperative Research and Breeding Agreement with China. Roll-off Dumpster Direct recently delivered a dumpster to the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington DC, which is one of the four zoos with a panda. In fact, the National Zoo is lucky enough to have two pandas, which are named Tian Tian and Mei Xiang.
The Smithsonian National Zoo is free to enter, as are the other Smithsonian National Museums in Washington DC. In addition to its panda exhibit, the National Zoo is home to 400 different species of animals, including elephants, lions, tigers, and gorillas. One innovative part of the zoo involves high-wires running above visitor walkways which are used by orangutans to move between two different buildings as they please. The zoo, which is funded by tax revenue, is open to everyone and hosts approximately 2 million visitors per year.
